The Charis Centre has been the home of Crawley Community Church since 2010. The building itself was built in 1951 and has been a hub for the community ever since. During the week the centre is used by social action groups such as Happy Baby Community and Dimensions as well as being a training venue for hire by businesses.

On Sundays at 10am, Crawley Community Church meet in the building to praise, worship and have teaching from the bible. For more information, click here.

Our vision is for the Charis Centre to continue to serve the diverse community of Crawley into the next generation and beyond. Part of this vision is to upgrade the facilities of the building for which more information is below.

Vision 1 - Improved Access Facilities

Whilst the Charis Centre is a welcoming space for all, the access points in areas both internally and externally could be improved. Below shows the areas that we are looking to improve.

We would like to replace our existing heavy entrance doors with automatic opening doors to allow for ease of access for all.

Our toilets need refurbishment, mens, ladies and accessible. These old school toilets were not designed for modern use and the refurbishment plans will reduce the number of toilets, allowing for wider cubicles.

We have two entrance and exit areas which are inaccessible and require ramps so that the building can be used by all. These are outside our main hall, and the rear garden entrance to Revive Cafe.

Our hut was closed in 2022 and has since only been used for storage. We urgently need to redevelop this area and the connected garden area as dedicated children and family space. We already host Happy Baby Community and Jungle Tots, various youth and children’s groups in other parts of our building. This area will be designed to provide safe space to children and families inside and out.
